Yes, today was a satisfying day for me because I managed to take the effort to give my room a big spring cleaning all by myself!
What's the reason behind it? Because my caregroup would be using my room in the evening time for prayer meeting... Of course, another main reason would be also that my holiday was coming to an end, and it would be a good time to tidy up my room and rearranged my books & notes to prepare for a new semester again...
All my family members (especially my father) were totally amazed by my actions and diligence, it was because I was known to be very lazy and don't have the habit of doing household chores like cleaning (unless being forced to!). Initially, I guessed they all had the impression that such sudden change in my action was probably due to some people of importance going to visit me. But they thought it the wrong way, they thought I had a girlfriend and was inviting her to our home! LOL... Well, 这也难怪他们会这样想, 毕竟这么懒的我, 怎么会自动自发地整理房间来了?!
But I explained to them that it's my caregroup that was going to come in the evening. My father commented that if that's the case, then next time ask them to come more often so that I would be more motivated to tidy up my room consistently... Haha..
During my process of cleaning up my room, I asked myself this question too, "Why do I have the urgency to want to clean up my room?" After some thought, I realised it's because I
knew that somebody would be coming to my room soon, therefore I got a bit of 临时抱佛脚 and used the whole afternoon to do the spring cleaning...
God seems to tell me something...
"Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." [1 Thessalonians 5:1-2]
"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed." [Revelation 16:15]
"Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you." [Revelation 3:3]
In our spiritual walk with God, we are also taught to be always on guard with our lives, because just like what the bible says, we will not know exactly when Jesus is coming back again. But it is certain that
He will come back as He promised in the bible.
One question to ask ourselves is that "Do we have the habit to 'tidy up' our heart from time to time to prevent cobweb & dust to pile up & make us unhealthy?"
I always said, men are forgetful creatures! We all need constant reminders about the important things in our lives. And of course, God, being our Creator, understands this very well. That's what He teaches us ways to keep ourselves reminded about our identities in Christ. Things like going to church, singing praise & worship, attending caregroup, partaking Holy Communion, etc... All these helped us to remember the love and grace from God! However, christianity is never about rules and regulations, it's ultimately a personal relationship between God and yourself...
Thank God for His wonderful reminder... =)
"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." [Proverbs 4:23]
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." [Philippians 4:7]
