More movie reviews...
亲切的金子: 李英爱 is good, no doubt about it... But the movie itself is really too abstract for me to appreciate... Remind me of movies made by 王家卫... No offend, but the artistic level is just too high for me... Can someone really 'pretend' to be good for 16 years just to take revenge after that? But I do like the scene when she said about prison being the ideal place for people to acknowledge that they are sinners and need to accept God's grace and mercy... =)
Next: Interesting movie... Always like the sci-fi concept of time-travel/futuristic stuff... Wanted to see if there's any convincing explanation attempted to make the whole theory work... Enjoy Nicholas Cage's performance (though his character is very very similar to the one in National Treasure!) Can say that the ending maybe crappy for some, but I personally is satisfied by it... cos it just proved that one's never can see its definite future...
The Hottie & The Nottie: (
Seems like I really run out of possible movies to rent to get such movie to watch...) But surprisingly, it turns up not as bad as I expected... Rather, it did share some truth about relationships.... So still glad that I watched it. (
Btw, Christine Lakin who acts as the 'Nottie' is really beautiful in person!)
Jumper: Despite average comments for the movie, I still decide to see it for myself.. reason mentioned earlier... I generally interested in sci-fi movies... So conclusion-average indeed... but I do like the scenes of going from places all around the world, looks cool with the visual effects too, appreciated their effort in making it as realistically-convincing as possible.
The Mummy 3: Watched in at AMK Hub with YZ... Personally, enjoyed the show cos didn't go in with much expectation... And Jet Li did well, think he really can play baddie role with yet charisma, especially as a king speaking to his army... impressive... And Michelle Yeoh's mandarin still sounds funny... reminds me of 卧虎藏龙 again... LOL...
"师兄,你得道了?"
"没有...我没有这种感觉..."
HAHAHAHA....

More movie reviews... (brief comments)

Hancock: Hmmm... Will Smith is ok, just that the plot is not convincing enough, ending quite abrupt too... But for the unusual superhero concept, that's quite interesting... Can be better though... =)
Hancock: "Do I have the permission to touch your body?"
(HAHAHA...)
Red Cliff: Well, not a hardcore ROTK fan, so don't really know the original characters & storyline, except those famous ones... Admit it's tough to make a movie from such a strong well-known story that already stay firm in the heart of people... Personal feel of the movie is it's too draggy, yawned quite a few times during the show... It's ok to have suspense and silence if the moment is necessary, but it's a different thing to be draggy and disrupt the momentum of the show... Well, I guess I'll still watch part 2 next year to see the fire burning... =)
逾﹕"你也懂陣法?"
亮﹕"略懂..."
(HAHAHA...)

Step Up 2 The Streets: Rent it to watch. Didn't watch part 1, so just wanna see how's the story and dance actions... I enjoyed the show, though my expectation hasn't been met. I thought the show will boost my interest in learning dancing... haha... this show didn't achieve that... But always like the concept of a team forming by unique individuals where each has own different 'attributes' to add color to the team... =)
Jenny: "I like your teeth."
Smiles: "Thanks, I like your accent."
Jenny: "What accent?"
(HAHAHA...)
Vantage Point: Recommended by a few people, so decided to rent it to watch... Indeed, a very interesting way of telling a story... I love how the story slowly unfold and engage the audience to follow through with excitement & questions in mind to seek answers... A very creative way of movie-making! And appreciate the movie more after watching the dvd bonus of the making of the movie... The actors were all good, though they are not superstars... Learnt about the truth of Point of View (POV) differs from everyone, even if it's the same event. (Suddenly link the things i learnt in Reason & Persuasion! Haha.. perception of table in our mind? see the link?)

New Post... (Finally..)
Ok... Finally managed to force myself down in front of my computer to post a blog entry... Realising my blog seems to be dying soon... Now that it has been quite some time from my last post, I also not sure what to share up here...
Perhaps listing down some of my thanksgiving points to God for the things that happened recently...
1. Thank God for His healing- Been coughing and ill since 3 weeks ago... Thank God for the fast recovery and rest after the ActsCalibre camp, that I regain my voice and end my non-stop coughing syndrome... (which makes me just wanna sing P&W and KTV again! LOL)
2. Thank God for His providence- Been starting to work at Mind Cafe, it has been a good experience so far, with the friendly crew and fun-loving customers... Special thanks to Minghua & Alvin for their guidance during my 1st day of work... Promised God that I'll really give my best in the job to be a testimony for Him!
3. Thank God for His promise- Came in as a stunning news when I got the sms from my brother that my father received Christ after attending his church's Sunday service! It was an long-awaited prayer answered! Indeed God is faithful and nothing is impossible for Him... Amen? =)
4. Thank God for His presence- Specifically for the GenACTS events all these while, can really see how God has helped the committee in planning and executing the events... It is great to see how the freshmen have enjoyed the experiences and the new friendships we build over them. God work miraculously in our midst!
5. Thank God for His encouragement & challenge- Recently have been trying to get my head down to receive direction from God, especially with all the upcoming responsibilities and things I need to take up to lead my group... Thank God for His Word and people around that encourage me... Thank God for my shepherd and leaders... I wanna respond positively to the challenges, be it new roles or deeper commitment in ministry... (
More of Him, less of me...)
Currently, i am reading on a interesting book i bought from MPH a month ago...

After reading the 1st 2 chapters, i began to reflect upon those times which I sense God speaking to me... And I realised that I am very sensitive to it through media... specifically like movies... I can always manage to receive a rayma moment from a movie/tv that speak to me, no matter that's the main theme of the movie or not... And i enjoyed them, not just because the movie is enjoyable, but I know that's a special way that God uses to speak to me... =)
Below are 3 movies i rent to watch last week... I watched all back-to-back, with only a few hours sleep in between the last 2... Not often can you have the luxury to have movie marathon, so must treasure it b4 sch reopen soon...
Dan in Real Life: I love the show... It was one i missed in cinema... Can really feel for the main character Dan in the story and the internal struggles he is feeling.. (trying to imagine something similar happening to me, i won't know how to deal with it either...) A good recommendation for those who like family-themed show, with a unusual romance theme...
Jesus Camp: This is often a documentary film I wanted to catch in PictureHouse previously... Always seeking documentaries like this that talks about Christians' belief... It is inspiring of course, no doubt about it... For non-Christians, this is also a good one to understand more on Christianity...
Be Kind Rewind: Another show i missed in cinema, 2 attracting factors for me to go for it, Jack Black and spoofing of movies! This film really reminds me how fun it is to make your own movies, even with simple technology and 'props'... haha... (oh... i miss my N70 phone again...) A bonus of unexpected heart-warming ending... another plus point for the movie...
Oh ya, and I have to declare my new favourite animation film to date is
Kungfu Panda!!! This film is
beyond awesome... The animation is great, but it won't be that enjoyable and fascinating if the script is just average... I simply
love the script, yet another inspiring movie for me to wanna make movies like this in future... Well done Dreamworks! ( I have watched it twice in cinema btw... Haha) Waiting for its DVD liao... =p

Vexille
Went to watch the movie "Vexille" with Jeffrey today at the Cathay Picturehouse...
Enjoyed the movie very much... Think the character development was good, not to mention the cool CG effects and stuff... And I like the music used inside the film...
Synopsis:
It's 2077 and Japan has become a renegade nation closed to the rest of the world. Shielded from penetration by air, sea and space for 10 years, the island nation has become a mystery to the United Nations. The isolation resulted when it fell out with other countries over the development of robotics which was banned everywhere else. Japan has taken its creation of human androids to the extreme and the only way to overcome them is to send in a crack team to hook up with Japanese underground rebels. Enter Vexille, a female special agent, whose squad uses ultra-high-tech weapons for battle.
Can watch it if you like jap anime, or futuristic theme plot...
